Good Travel Management - A year in review and future plans


With a new year just around the corner its nearly time to wave goodbye to 2016. For Good Travel Management, it’s been a phenomenal year with lots of positive developments and changes. Here we take a look at our highlights and give you an insight as to our future plans for Good Travel Management in 2017…

Where do we start? The biggest thing to happen for us was the relaunch and re-brand of the company. This was a process which went much deeper than our image but also was in tandem with setting our long term business goals too and making sure our brand reflected this. The changes involved a new company logo, updated signage and the transition to a slick new user friendly website. The new website has become a hub of useful content for our clients including a business travel blog, sharing best practice ideas and thought leadership, as well as free downloads such as guides and templates to help make life easier for those managing business travel. We achieved all of this whilst keeping to the original concept and values that have set us apart for over 180 years and will be at the forefront of our future vision.

Managing Director Kevin Harrison commented on the re-brand back in September, “The company has gone from strength to strength, particularly over the last decade. In 2005 we saw sales of £1.6 million. Compare that to a turnover of £18 million in 2015 and it clearly demonstrates how we’ve expanded our business dramatically. We are moving in an exciting direction and felt it was the perfect time to update our image with our new brand.”

Next came a new partnership as we joined the Guild of Travel Management Companies (GTMC). The GTMC’s member companies account for over 80 per cent of all UK expenditure on managed business travel. Good Travel Management needed to meet some strict criteria to enable us to join this high profile business organisation who clearly are ‘the voice of business travel’ in the UK and provide us with valuable insight into industry trends and challenges. We look forward to sharing even more industry insight in 2017 with our customers as a result of our membership.

Good Travel Management - Joins GTMC


In October, we were informed that we had been shortlisted for the Best Travel Management Company (less than £50 million UK sales annually) in the prestigious Business Travel Awards.

Often referred to as “The Oscars of the business travel industry”, the annual Business Travel Awards is the industry-wide benchmark in excellence and recognises the achievements of the industry’s leading organisations, teams and individuals who have performed outstandingly over the last 12 months. We find out if we have won at the awards ceremony on January 23rd 2017, and we are keeping everything crossed for the result.

Good Travel Management - Shortlisted

Next came some new key appointments to our leadership team, Julie Ornsby was appointed to the Good Travel Management Board as Operations Director and Wayne Durkin took up the role of Head of Sales, Marketing and Account Management. Their experience, focus and vision will be crucial in realising our ambitious growth plans over the next five years, as we define more innovative solutions for our clients and grow our presence both in the UK and globally.


So, what's on the horizon for Good Travel Management in 2017?

We will continue to grow our presence both in the UK and globally, whilst maintaining our focus and keeping a culture and service that we are proud of. We will be announcing some exciting future plans surrounding our new specialised divisions opening within Good Travel Management during 2017 and will also be relaunching our leisure travel proposition with a new and exclusive travel club for our corporate clients.
