Dear Customer and Business Partners
Despite the hit that the travel industry is taking, I am pleased to confirm that as a business we remain fully operational in all departments and with a full service still remaining for the limited essential travel requirements that exist, however a Travel Management Company is there for you in many more ways than just the booking and arranging of travel and our teams continue to support our customers on a daily basis. As with most businesses, our teams are all working from home but still all fully contactable by phone, email and through our online platforms and chat facilities. I’d like to update you on a number of aspects and information relating to the travel management sector that I hope you will find useful:
Refunds for cancelled travel
The last 6-8 weeks have been some of the most disruptive the travel industry and the world economy has ever experienced and unfortunately this is having a knock on effect on the processing of refunds from airlines and suppliers. Many airlines have suspended the automated refund processing facilities that Travel Management Companies and customers had and it is now a much slower process, with some reverting to vouchers to re-arrange, however be assured our teams are pro-actively working through all future bookings and all those that have passed to ensure that where refunds are due we will ensure we obtain them, but do bear with us as this may take many weeks. We would ask that if invoices did remain unpaid for tickets or travel due a refund, that they are settled with us as we have paid out for them to the supplier already. If you have questions relating to refunds then please don’t hesitate to contact your normal booking contact who will be happy to check on the progress of anything for you.
Our teams worked tirelessly during March to be ahead of the disruption that came once flights started to be cancelled, and we continue to work through future travel arrangements to rebook and re-arrange anything you may have live with us. We will always endeavour to work out the best solution for you, either rebooking later in the year or applying for a refund on your behalf and avoiding you having to spend time and cost on doing this yourself. Again, do bear with us as terms and conditions for every airline and supplier keep changing.
UK Travel and Key Worker Hotel Rates
Some of our customers continue to be active in the UK Market and need travel and accommodation for employees working on projects for the NHS and Government or essential services. The Hotel chain Premier Inn have set up Key Worker and NHS rates and Travelodge are keeping selected properties open for such workers. We have full access to these rates through our travel teams and online platforms. Be aware however that services are much reduced and Hotels may not be able to offer services such as food and Beveridge compared to usual.
The Business Travel Industry
Good Travel Management are members of the Business Travel Association which acts to have a strong voice for the business travel industry in lobbying government, working with airlines and working collectively to adapt to the unprecedented impact on the travel sector. The Business Travel industry underpins UK economic activity and facilitates international trade and therefore it is vital that the infrastructure remains intact to give our country the best outcomes in enabling a bounce back as quickly as possible.
Use of Technology
During this time we are finding a number of customers looking at the technology and tools they have in place for their future operations and risk management of employees when travelling on business. Our range of solutions include bespoke online booking platform, integration of travel policy and compliance, traveller tracking and duty of care solutions and data and reporting suites. If you want to explore any new initiatives then don’t hesitate to contact Andrew Sison in our Account Management Team – Asison@good-travel.co.uk
Whilst we are ‘Business as Usual’ its clear that it is not possible for many people to physically travel, nor is it safe or possible to do so unless a Key worker or providing essential services. However, Good Travel Management are already planning for the future and although the Business Travel sector may well be very changed from what we are used to now, our company has evolved and developed over 180 years and in doing so has to have the ability to adapt and innovate. Industry sectors will be affected in many different ways, but our teams will be here ready to meet your current needs as they arise as well as helping you prepare for the future landscape of Business Travel.
Finally we would like to thank you all for your support this year and hope that all our customers, partners and suppliers emerge through this as strong as possible and ready to meet the challenges ahead. We also want to thank our own teams who have worked tirelessly in ensuring we minimised the impact of the disruption and will continue to do so in the coming weeks and months.
