Heidi Taylor, Senior Business Travel Consultant for Good Travel Management, had the opportunity to visit Dublin Airport with hosts Aer Lingus and Radisson Blu Hotels.
The visit was to enhance knowledge on the US Border and Immigration control, as well as visit the Business Class lounge and the Raddison Blu Hotel.
Upon arrival, the Aer Lingus Sales / Operations Manager met the group for the tour and made her way to the Aer Lingus check-in area, which consisted of normal check-in desks and self-check-in kiosks.
(Terminal 2 is used by both Aer Lingus and US carriers as well as all long-haul operators)
After seeing the check-in process, the group proceeded through normal security into the Lounge and onward to the US Border and Immigration downstairs.
Normal connecting passengers would disembark from their flights and follow the transit passengers signs, on arrival into the US Border control. They are asked questions, shown a photograph of their bag that came from the UK mainland to confirm it is theirs for reloading. From here they would pass through into the departures lounge (which is technically classed as US soil) meaning there is a small part of the US in Dublin airport.
The process takes around 20 minutes depending on the queue size, so from check-in to boarding travelling becomes a breeze.
Looks like Heidi had a fantastic day experiencing all Dublin Airport/Aer Lingus/ Radisson Blu has to offer to the modern business traveller, helping Heidi to provide experienced information to Good Travel Management clients.
